The Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University seeks applications for the position of Associate Research Scientist. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Huiming Yin.
As an Associate Research Scientist, the incumbent will work to further the research of the laboratory and disseminate research results among conferences and meetings. He/She will be asked to supervise student projects within the scope of the research group. The immediate research area involves concentrated solar power harvesting and applications to waste recycling, energy efficient building envelope materials, multi-scale/physical characterization and modeling of advanced materials, and other emerging energy harvesting technologies.
The Associate Research Scientist is a professional officer of research whose qualifications are equivalent to those of an assistant professor with at least 2 years prior experience. Associate Research Scientists are expected to be able to coordinate independent research in the area of their training.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Independent research capability is of high value.
Special consideration will be given to candidates having strong research background in solar power harvesting in a civil engineering context.
