The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for two Assistant Professor positions in Bioengineering and/or Biomedical Engineering. Candidates from related disciplines, such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, Physics, or Mathematics, whose research is relevant to Bio/Biomedical Engineering, may be considered. Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent and demonstrate the potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service. Of particular interest are candidates whose research interests include (1) Biomechanics/Rehabilitation Engineering (specifically Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Robotics), (2) Flexible Bioelectronics (Neural Engineering), (3) Biomaterials, and (4) Systems Biology. Strong candidates with interests and expertise in related fields will also be considered. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment to build a world-class department and university. All positions commence Fall 2021.
The Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas celebrates its 10 year anniversary in 2020. According to US News and World Report, the Department is the 3rd ranked Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering program in Texas. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Biomedical Engineering. The Bioengineering Department ranked 1st for the percentage of MS degrees awarded to female students and has the 3rd largest undergraduate program in the US according to ASEE. The close proximity to the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and our joint graduate program offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research.
UT Dallas is situated in Richardson, TX, one of the most attractive suburbs in the Dallas metropolitan area. The University sits in close proximity to the telecom corridor, home to several hundred high-technology companies that provide opportunities for joint university-industry collaborations.
