Employee functions in an administrative capacity carrying out special projects as assigned by the Department Director. Also, under general direction of the Director, this employee directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the assigned Department. This employee will assist with key departmental functions of developing and managing capital and operating budgets, including coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments and outside agencies. Provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of the assigned department. It is preferred that the candidate has a background in the transportation section and a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Surveying or other Transportation related fields. The employee should have experience in developing and managing capital/operating budgets, project management for public capital transportation projects. Employee should also have experience working with and presenting to governmental officials/agencies, e.g. City Councils, Community Councils.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Each applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business, Marketing, or area of operational expertise and five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in the public or private sector related to assigned department activities is required. A Master's degree in the aforementioned or operational areas is strongly preferred.
Where a specialized certification or experience is required for the position, a substitution may be permitted to replace educational requirements.
Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be an excellent communicator and team builder. May require specific industry mandated or related certifications.
