Clay Electric Cooperative, Inc., the 9th largest cooperative in the nation, located in Keystone Heights, Florida, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Engineer for our Engineering and Operations department. Individuals in positions allocated to this class perform professional engineering services. Primary responsibilities include performing engineering computations, estimates, reports and specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
Engineering Design. Direct and perform engineering computations, estimates, reports, specifications and similar engineering details.
Construction Design. Assume responsibility for construction design in a particular field.
Supervision as Required. Direct and perform all phases of a project with the particular field including scheduling, coordination and field supervision. Direct other engineering personnel assigned to the work.
Communication. Deal with supervisory personnel and manufacturers representatives.
Provide Assistance to Other Areas. Assist in handling projects in other fields.
Policies, Procedures and Work Practices. Develop procedures for writing up results of performance and equipment tests studies, equipment and material failure studies, etc.
Operations of Equipment. Operate assigned vehicle in a safe and efficient manner and keep the vehicle clean and orderly, while coordinating any necessary repairs or maintenance items with Fleet Services. Comply with all traffic laws and related safety rules and safe work practices in the Cooperative Safety Manual.
Promote Safety. Practice safe work habits in the performance of all job duties and be familiar with and adhere to those portions of the Cooperative Safety Manual that pertain to his/her job and work area and be able to perform CPR and first aid.
Other Duties. Perform other duties as directed or required by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires the knowledge to comprehend and interpret Engineering specifications, cooperative safety manuals, national electric safety codes and all types of construction drawings, particularly pertaining to transmission, distribution and substation facilities. This position requires a knowledge of methods, processes and equipment used in accomplishing design and construction of transmission, distribution and substation facilities.
This position requires the ability to give and receive communications involving both employees and other departments. This position requires the ability to read engineering publications and keep abreast of engineering technological changes and advancements in the area of this section's responsibilities.
The physical demands of this position require exposure to adverse elements and the normal hazards associated with working in the field such as opening gates, walking over rough terrain, heavy woods and brush, bad dogs and climbing fences.
Minimum Training and Experience:
This position requires graduation from an accredited college of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, civil, chemical or nuclear plus three (3) years of related experience.
Individuals in this position must maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license.
A four (4) year Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology degree from an ETAC/ABET accredited program and five (5) years of qualified engineering experience , as defined by the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE).
