PWGC is seeking a highly motivated AutoCAD Civil 3D Designer to work closely with our mining and material management group in Long Island, NY. The successful candidate will join our team of environmental and civil engineers, scientists, and geologists to provide support on mining, material recycling, site planning and environmental remediation projects. The ideal candidate will have advanced skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 or higher, and basic knowledge of site layout, grading and drainage, and utility design principles and concepts. These skills will be used to assist the project team in the preparation of permitting, reserve analysis, and construction drawings.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support environmental and civil engineering projects in the office, including mining and material recycling (C&D, organic recycling facilities)
Analyze sketches, notes, survey data and other input material to determine the best approach to prepare AutoCAD permitting and construction drawings with proficiency
Use of Civil 3D design tools for site layout, grading, and utility layout, including tin surfaces, horizontal and vertical alignments, topographical contours and break lines, generation of profiles, cut and fill calculations, reserve analysis, and material quantity take-offs
Maintain internal and external CAD standards
Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying and scanning of drawings, prints and maps
Maintain accurate CAD drawing filing system
Revise or prepare drawings with neatness and a minimum of errors
Self-check all work and check the work of others as required
Work closely with the visual management team to support standards and design concepts for the engineering teams
Conduct field work to support data collection including limited GPS surveys, work with the unmanned aerial drone team to secure in depth elevation models
Preparation of Mined Land Reclamation Reports, Hydrogeologic Reports
Assistance with proposal preparation for associated projects
Maintain collaborative and congenial working relationships with co-workers and clients
Bachelorâ€™s degree or higher in natural science or engineering with course work including AutoCAD Civil 3D 2017 or higher
1-3 years of demonstrated experience with AutoCAD & Civil 3D 2017 or higher in a consulting engineering office
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D design tools, including preparation of surfaces, horizontal and vertical alignments, topographical contours and break lines, generation of profiles and cross sections, pipe networks, and material quantity take-offs
Knowledge of CAD Standards and workflow procedures
In addition to the minimum requirements above, the following qualifications are desired, but not required:
Experience working with ESRI's ArcGIS
Knowledge of NY state GIS database libraries and other data sources
Knowledge of NYSDEC Part 360 regulations, Mined Land Reclamation requirements and regulation
Experience in conducting sub-marine benthic survey
Unmanned aerial drone experience, FAA drone pilot certification a plus
