Brief Description of the Job Provides senior level project management for stormwater and wastewater related infrastructure projects to ensure the design of private and public sector development is environmentally compliant. Reviews building and site plan permits and ensures all projects are complaint with City Land Development Ordinances, as well as State and Federal regulations. Manages municipal stormwater and sanitary sewer projects from inception to closeout to include reading/interpreting maps, researching data, preparing technical specifications and requests for proposal (RFPs), providing construction management, etc. Serves as public liaison. As required, coordinates project management with outside consultants and contractors. Performs technical review of stormwater/sanitary sewer projects, and conducts wastewater capacity analyses and technical site assessments to identify hazards and non-compliance. Provides draft ordinances and technical reference manuals, public education for various environmental best management practices (BMPs), and technical support of other departments. Prepare and conduct presentations. As assigned, serves as Assistant City Engineer.
Job Requirements Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and Professional Engineer License required.
Experience: Over four years of experience as an Engineer is required. Engineering experience should include stormwater analysis and design, planning, designing, construction, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure, BMPs, low impact development projects. Experience with federal and state environmental regulations, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4), and Clean Water Act, is a requirement. A strong technical understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, civil design, and related municipal government experience is preferred.
Driver's License Required: Class D South Carolina license.
Certifications and Other Requirements: South Carolina Professional Engineer.
