The Department of Engineering Technology and Construction Management at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions. The Department serves about 900 students in five undergraduate programs in Construction Management (CM), Civil Engineering Technology (CET), Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Fire & Safety Engineering Technology (FSET), and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), as well as three graduate degree programs in Construction & Facilities Management, Fire Protection & Safety Management, and Applied Energy & Electromechanical Systems Engineering. Currently, we are recruiting faculty members who can teach in at least one of the undergraduate programs of the Department and perform collaborative research in support of one or more of the graduate programs. Positions currently being recruited include the following:
Fire Protection (Position #004527) Candidates with degrees and professional experience in Fire Protection or a related area are encouraged to apply. Candidates with expertise and experience in any of the following will be considered: Fire Combustion, Material Flammability, Fire Protection, Fire Modeling, Fire Systems Design, Facilities Management, or related areas of fire protection.
Construction Engineering & Management (Position #004551) Candidates with degrees and professional experience in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or closely related area are encouraged to apply. Candidates with expertise and experience in one or more of the following is desired: Commercial Construction, Vertical Construction (Mid- to High-Rise), Construction Law / Contracts, Building Codes, Building Systems, Construction Materials/Means & Methods, Design/Build and Other Alternative Delivery Methods, Green Construction, Sustainability, or Facilities Management.
Mechanical Engineering Technology (Tenure-track Position #001719) Candidates with degrees and professional experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related area are preferred. This position specifically targets candidates with expertise in Mechanical / Machine Design, Rapid Prototyping & Parametric Modeling/CAD, Manufacturing, Automotive, Electromechanical Systems or related area.
Required qualifications for tenure track positions include an earned doctorate. Candidates must possess excellent leadership, organizational, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, and must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment that serves a diverse student population. Relevant professional practice or industry experience is desired.
