The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS). UWM is one of two doctoral-granting institutions in the University of Wisconsin System and offers 184 degree programs including 96 undergraduate degrees, 55 master’s degrees, 1 specialist program and 32 doctoral programs, through 14 schools and colleges. The 93-acre main campus is located in a residential neighborhood on Milwaukee’s east side, offering faculty, staff, and students a wide range of cultural, athletic, and entertainment opportunities.
The College has five departments--Civil Engineering and Mechanics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering. CEAS is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and all established undergraduate academic programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology. Degrees are offered at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels.
As the chief academic officer for CEAS, the Dean has primary responsibility to plan, develop, and administer all aspects of the College’s educational programs, activities, and budget. The dean will also provide vision and leadership in setting priorities to maintain academic standards and strengthen scholarship and research.
UWM seeks candidates with strong records of professional accomplishment, commitment to excellence in both research and teaching, and outstanding management and leadership skills. The Dean must be a person with the highest integrity and an educational leader who can work with the entire CEAS community to implement the vision for the College’s future and achieve standards of excellence in teaching and learning, scholarship, curricular development, and assessment.
An earned doctorate in engineering or in a relevant applied science field is required. The successful candidate must have a professional/academic record appropriate for appointment as a full professor with tenure in the College.
