Wilson Ihrig has an opportunity for a full-time Senior Consultant or Associate Principal in our New York office. This position reports to principal-level staff in our California headquarters. Wilson Ihrig offers a complete range of professional services associated with acoustics, noise and vibration control. Typical project work areas include transportation systems, architectural and building acoustics, industrial noise control, HVAC and mechanical equipment, community and environmental acoustics, and construction noise and vibration monitoring. Wilson Ihrig has been based in the San Francisco Bay Area since its founding in 1966 with offices in New York (2005) and Seattle (2010).
Essential duties include:
Develop and execute strategies and tactics to grow business primarily in the New York area by maintaining existing clients and acquiring new clients, but also throughout the Northeast.
Manage organization functions assigned to the office including staff administration; project administration; quality assurance; and business development.
Manage and lead projects.
Supervise and develop our New York-based staff both professionally and technically.
Noise and vibration technical analyses.
Preparation of reports in clear, concise English.
Acoustical and vibration measurements in the field, often at locations that require climbing ladders, navigating on-site barriers, and transporting equipment. Measurements are often made outside normal working hours.
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Acoustics, Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or other discipline with coursework related to acoustics and vibration. Master's degree preferred.
Possess a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in acoustical engineering.
Business development experience is a key aspect of this position.
Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Strong client management skills.
Excellent verbal/presentation and written communication skills.
Ability to think clearly and work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Vibration expertise and transportation project experience are highly desirable.
Significant experience using sound and/or vibration measurement equipment.
Familiarity with sound and vibration prediction modeling software (SoundPlan, CadnaA), CAD programs, MatLab, and/or programming languages is highly desirable.
Must demonstrate at the time of hire proof of permission to work permanently in the United States
